exactly. as it was mentioned, miles told Ed that he cannot survive his jurney without killing anyone (I can read hiragana but I still don't understand everyting so I'm relying on other people). so now when he's facing death himself, he'll have to rething and replan his actions. he cannot be ignorant anymore...
another problem - what happens to Al?? his problem is serious, if not more serious that Ed's. Edward can be saved by alchemists, doctors and such. Al can be saved by Ed only, and it isn't that sure....

manga!Ed is badass, he can survive everything!! we must believe in him! in both of them!!

I'm not saying I don't like it that she's in the middle of it all. it's great that finally she has some role (and I expect her to get even more significant one) but I mean that she has to see them suffering so much and because of that she suffers as well.
in the anime, Winry was kinda boring, being only in Resembool and waiting. in later eps, when she decided she wanted to help as well she was waaaaay cooler. but manga!win is just kickass XDD
