back from holidays

this last week, I went on holidays to our sea shore. all alone. in a small town which I knew would be deserted after holiday season. and you know what? I don't regret it at all. I needed this kind of calm holidays, out of noise and crowd. it helped me recharge my batteries, relax a bit and get as much fresh air and activity as I wanted.
because I forgot my camera and my laptop with me, my phone had to replace both of those devices. it has a camera in it, which helped a lot, and a WiFi, which also turned out to be very useful:)

first extra on the way to the sea, around half of the way there. a giant Christ statue. apparently, icluding the crown and pedestal it's higher than the Rio de Janeiro one. my bro calls it Aragorn....

this is how the sea looked on Thursday when I got there. it was a little windy and cloudy but still better than I expected from september

seagulls. I actually hate seagulls because they're noisy and dirty. but they're a nice part of the scenery and sea without seagulls would be empty:/

sunset of that day and some fishing boats.

sunset on Friday. as you can see, the sky cleared up a lot and on that day it was actually very sunny and nice! tourists began to come, seeing how weather was getting better

and my feet^^; I love walking though the sand barefoot, but sadly, I hurt myself somehow doing so, and now my left foot hurts when I walk and is a bit swollen:/

morning of Saturday. it was an amazing weekend, really. notice that there are no waves on the water. it was calm, warm and really great. I managed to walk another 20km that day

footprint on the sand^^; it's an obligatory photo and it always amazes me that it looks so different depending how you look at it

on saturday I walked to the neighbouring town by land. it's not far, around 4-5km from my hotel, but I was still amazed to see how well the road and pavement was taken care of. they even included those cute metal installations/sculptures showing people doing sports like nordic-walking or riding a bike. and I bet that in the future those flowers will cover them completely, making them look entirely different

in the evening I went into the opposite direction, to the outskirts of the town in which I was staying, to see the lighthouse. it's actually one of the tallest lighthouses on our shore, 45m high. and it's really old, because it was built around 1866

sunset of that day. there was a fog in the sky, which made walking though the beach a little more bearable

one of the fishing boats getting back to the shore after setting the nets

someone's summer house in another of the neighbouring towns, around 8km from my hotel. I liked it because it has a simple shape, lots of glass, what makes it a little invisible and thereofore, it suits the landscape

and that is a tricky picture. because it's not any rocky cliff or anything. it's actually beach sand, that was shaped by water and wind like this^^ in the morning it'll just be a pile of sand crushed by night waters^^;

sunday morning! on that day I actually got into the water. but only waist deep, because it was still too cold. and there were jellyfish><

sunday evening. clouds began to gather and I was expecting a fall of weather the next day. still, I felt incredibly lucky to be able to have 3 sunny and warm days, where I managed to walk alot and actually sunburn....

as expected, on Monday it was raining, especially after noon. so in the morning I managed to get my walk, but after dinner I had to visit hotel's pool^^;

as ordinary as swans are in our sea, I actually managed to find only those two. and I only saw them once

Tuesdey morning. sun again! it was windy so I got my favourite kind of sea, but hey, I could keep my jacket in my room!

decided to actually visit the lighthouse on that day. the view is spectacular, especially that there's not only sea, but also a lake nearby. there were also wind turbines but they're barely visible on my photo:/

when I was getting back from the lighthouse, a dragonfly landed close to my foot! and it didn't run away when I was making my picture^^

Wednesday morning. another great and sunny day. managed to walk alot again, but due to my foot's condition I had to slow down a bit. damnit.

Thursday morning, my last visit at the shore before getting into my car and driving home. it didn't rain when I was there, but it sure did when I drove off. it was a great trip really. exactly a type of holidays that's fit for me.

a few sand castles I found especially nice
it was a really relaxing week. I think I walked around 100km in total, which resulted in my swollen foot. I managed to finish one book, which is a great achievement for me. school destroyed the joy of reading for me, now I'm getting it back, slowly.
I even managed to draw a bit, but only a bit, as I wanted to be as active as possible during this time, which resulted in me being away for at least 11 hours a day.

first picture is another of my single-couple pages, this time featuring Nina E. and Daniel. they're the innocent kind of couple. he's really wary of doing anything inaprropriate and is so in love with the girl that he can barely speak in her presence. which results in them being a little distant for a few years before Daniel suddenly gets a little desperate. I really like playing with them, they're so cute and shy that it's actually hilarious making up situations how he can unintentionally humiliate himself in front of her^^;

second page I managed to draw is a collection of random ideas. first, two pictures on the left side. those are pictures taken of the same siblings but the second one is 8 years after the first one. those are Maes, Nina and Trish. Nina's history is a bit rough. she spent 10 years of her life away from her family, and she was forced to do terrible things. that's why, when her two younger siblings were cheerful and blissful, she was full of nightmares and darkness. on the second picture I wanted to show that acceptance of her siblings' side managed to chase her nightmares away and turn her into a happy person.
on the right there's Nash and Martel going to some party. those two actually give me a lot of trouble, especially her. she's a kind of girl I'm not exactly fond of: demanding, full of vanity, reserved. thereofore I have trouble developing her as much as I am developing the others:/
lastly, there's Bruce and Trish being cute. because they are cute and I can't help it, I'm a sucker for cute

Date: 2011-09-10 04:18 pm (UTC)Now that's a lighthouse in a model I've never seen! And the fishing boat photo just made me read up on Baltic Sea tides, since I wasn't aware they'd be that big in their differences ^^; Oh, and that footprint one has already had me puzzled for a while when trying to make out how the prints can look raised when they must be the opposite XD
I still say it's great that you finally got the holiday you deserved!
Even if these photos still make me wish I was some 500 km further south ^^>Sooo, what has Daniel been reading there I wonder? And I still say that Trish is the super-cutest around - for better or worse ^^

Date: 2011-09-10 04:45 pm (UTC)tides are different in what aspect?
exactly my thought! when I made this photo I was like "wait... it looks like it's coming out of sand, not like it's IN in O_o". when I turned it around, it looked ok^^;
I'm happy I did too, I needed this time^^ let's hope it'll give me enough energy to survive till christmas^^;
ehem... Daniel is..... a huge romance fan^^; he reads the sappiest books possible and he cries while reading them too^^; so when someone sneaks up on him, he gets really embarrased^^;
LOL, I never expected you'd like her this much^^;

Hey, Trish is cute, has nice hair, a seemingly nice attitude and makes for wonderful fluff scenes, so why shouldn't I? ^^

love the art too.
In my former life I was a foot doctor. If the foot continues to hurt, hit me up, I'll give you some ideas as to how to treat it but for now elevate and ice it down if you can. Walking in the sand while fun can put the midfoot in awkward positions and stretch the ligaments so they're probably a little inflammed. Any aspirin/ibuprofen like pills you have will not only take down pain they'll reduce the causes of the pain.

Date: 2011-09-21 12:54 pm (UTC)wow, you know what you were in your previous life? O_o that's unexpected. and thanks for the advice. I did apply some cooling creme and it helped, it doesn't hurt anymore. I suspect that I must've stretched muscles or tendons too much, that's why it was a bit stiff and hurt. but it's better now, thanks :D

Date: 2011-09-21 06:09 pm (UTC)I had a whole month like that 2 years ago, just me and nobody else and it worked wonders ^^ it's a family business that ever since I was a kid I've spent whole summers working to fill the gap from the workers who went on vacations ^^;
I love all of them but she's my favorite ^^ maybe because she's very much like Ed, having a rough start in early life and then overcoming all that struggle :)

Tez bylem we wrzesniu nad morzem, w pierwszy weekend po rozpoczeciu roku szkolnego udalo mi sie z dziewczyna wreszcie zebrac do Miedzyzdroi bo cale wakacje to odkladalismy z braku czasu/ochoty.
I robic mnostwo zdjec (jestem jak japonski turysta czasami, uwielbiam dokumentowac).
A do Swiebodzina chce sie wybrac (taka mini pielgrzymka kind of?) :)
Cisze sie ze fajny wyjazd mialas.
Tez lubie takie samotne wyciszajace wyprawy.
