another picture for my this year's [livejournal.com profile] fmabigbang [story], chapter three

Photobucket
Naomi trotted down the wide stairs and under one of the arched structures that wound around Xerxes. The aqueducts carried water to everyone in the city and separated the fancier houses and the temple, from the market. Shadows at the edge of the tall structure’s shade darted by, and she twisted around.

this illustration was actually made as first, when I was still getting used to painting backgrounds without lines^^; BUT! it was a great pleasure imagining, how Xerxes would look like rebuilt. because it's an old city rebuilt after hundrets of years of being abandoned, I tried to include some older elements into newer buildings, as well as tried imagining how certain systems would shape the city. greatly enjoyed doing this one.

wait for new illustrations! there are still 2 coming XD

Nie wygląda tak topornie jak kiedy próbujesz malować- jest lżejszy i przyjemniejszy.

And I still say it's a great way to do backgrounds! The haze in the distance, the soft colours, the sense of depth... I like it. A lot ^^

I'm not sure if working with me can be considered a blessing, but thank you very much! it's really a great feeling being part of a story. when I read that fragment with aqueducts, I realized how much you've intercepted me in your story and I couldn't be happier, it's a real honor. thank you for it!

Holy background batman. I wish I could get myself to learn how to do BGs like that. I said it last time, but I love how vibrant and bright your colours are for the Big Bangs. It's just so eyepopping, wow XD. So much love.

This is amazing! I love all the color and movement in it, and the circular aspects that you're hinting at.

thank you! yes, the city is supposed to be located on a large hill, so I thought that making it circle the hill would be the most convenient^^; I'm happy you like it^^

thank you! I'm affraid the colors pop too much though, will have to try desaturating them a little^^;
I wish I could make pictures to all the amazing stories there are, including yours, but unfortunately, there isn't as much time ;_; I promise I'll make something for you too, someday

good luck with tweaking the color to your liking.

I know I know, so many ideas that so many people ask me to write up, so little time.

I don't think they pop too much. Consider the surroundings of Xerxes... it's all desert. Pretty much monochromatic. So it would make sense that the people who resettled Xerxes would want bright, vivid colors around them. It sort of off-sets the beige of the desert sands and the washed-out colors of the ruins. There's a lot of life in all that color.
