Theory is that they might not be dead because after all Ed was able to pull Al soul from the gate, and it takes a bit for the body to start decomposting so there is a possibility that Hoho!papa might be able to do something and (i think Izumi might suffer too...) but all do time. I will say they need to act FAST before they loose them COMPLETELY. I got a feeling Father might use their souls against the brothers if he hasn't gotten to that point yet!

they are technically dead, just their souls didn't move on, just merged with the Freak (I'm going to call him that now) so there should be a way to break him. and if that happens, then everything should be ok. the case is, what the price will be and how much time they have left... till the end of the eclipse maybe?
