zodiac project

me and a few of my friends decided to make a series of drawings with zodiac signs, both European and Chinese. each of us got one sign of each constelations. I got MY fav gemini sign and Chinese snake XDDDD and so a picture is born^^



sorry, the pic is huge^^; I'm really happy with the lineart so far, hopefully I don't ruin it with further colouring^^;

some explanations. after reading some articles on Gemini posten on Wiki, I found out that usually, Gemini are associated with pearls and Lillies of the valley. they happen to be my favourite flowers, now I know why XDDD. and also, they share day and night between themselves. so, that should explain everything^^ also, the frame is based on cofie's pattern^^ hopefully you don't mind sis^^

and I have a question for you. actually, I'm asking for advice^^; how do you think I should colour this? plain and "flat" colours with minimum shading or complex and soft shading? this also involves the medium, either pencils or computer. to be honest, I'm not sure. I don't have time for experimenting and making 2 versions, that's why I'm asking==; I've been doing alot of pictures on computer lately, so pencils are favoured^^. however, I'm affraid I'll ruin it ;_; help please? thank you in advance^^

Wow, that's stunning. I love their clothing (obviously XD), their hair and especially the lilies.

I'm also echoing coloured pencils, though they are my favourite medium so I'm biased.

Not fashion, no, but I used to do costumes for musicals. That's probably it. Wow, you just made me realise why I'm obsessed with clothing in movies and paintings. It's strange I never realised that before. o_0

I'm sure it'll come out beautifully. I'm really looking forward to seeing it finished. :)

scan it in. If you feel you ruined teh pencil work then print out the lineart and have another go.

I don't think the frame is coming from me tough, I mean I would have done a way more complicated one and would have ruined the picture with it ^__^;;;

It's beautifull.
I want to see it colored, but I cannot help you in ideas on how to color. ^^; You know that is my weak part.

I'm just starting to pick up paper and pencil again to start drawing after many years of not drawing and it has always amazed me when someone draws people (I have lots and lots of trouble with people). It's really sweet.

aaaah then you must be good :D believe me, still nature is the first step. one should know how to draw from nature, then one can dephorm. and animals are always very difficult, unless you draw from a photograph

I always enjoyed drawing animals; I started those when I was about...oh...er...three? Everything else is just, you know. I did buy myself a nice art kit last year. I need to break it out and start using it.

And I'm sorry, but I don't dare to try to give you advise on coloring. I'll leave that to the people more qualified for that. Besides, I have this "fault" that I adore your drawings no matter which of the methods you use XD

As for oriental signs, I'm a dragon as long as you don't listen to miz... XD in case you didn't already know that.

of course, being me, I probably should try to get you to do a male gemini drawing one day for a change XDDD But somehow I think females make for a better, more loveable picture ^^

she just likes to remind me that I'm not a complete 100% dragon (like some other magnificent being ^^), since I wasn't conceived in the year of the dragon XD On the other hand, she's the one that determined that I'm gemini and not taurus, like I used to say most of the time earlier ^^; So now I'm gemini. Period. And a bunnydragon ^^ (can't remember if it was she or I who made up that term. Probably she XDD)

you know, those were males at the beginning XDDD but I hate drawing girly guys so they transformed XDDD well, for me it's easier to make such picture with females because females = long hair => nice flow + complicated clothes => design.

well, dragons remind me of aggresion, fire, fierce force and such, usually not good things^^ you are...... not draginish XDDD

one of your best drawings in my opinion ^^ and expresses the gemini's spirit (that we both know how it works xD)

I really like the lineart, I think it has a lot of strength, maybe a plain a simple colouring would be nice ^^

I'm experimenting right now, both with coloring and program^^ (using openCanvas this time instead of photoshop)
