decided to do one style meme because it seemed like a fun experiment. picked up Maes this time, because I haven't drawn him in color for ages>< so in the first picture you get a random almost naked Maes.
2. if you can't guess who I picked as a favourite mangaka, I'll be very disapointed in you. or myself, for not being able to draw in her style^^; this is where Maes and all my OCs originated from, actually. and after years of struggling to STOP drawing like the almighty Cow, I had to actually take some refs for her style^^; no matter how many of you tell me that her drawings suck, no matter how many times I see myself that she draws weird proportions, she's still one hell of a mangaka
3. Shoujo is.... not my thing>< I was never able to nail this style, nor did I ever like it. so yes, it may look awkward
4. after going through a few Disney 2D movies before drawing this, I realized that they use very little shading for their characters. so it may be a little flat-looking
5. haven't drawn a realistic portrait for YEARS. so of course I had to find some random dude on google. shame was, he was wearing sunglasses^^; but he worked. tweaked the face shape here and there and voila
6. pokemon style is simple... but still, took some time to imitate^^;
7. used halcyonjazz's style, specifically of her Sfeer Theory comic. because lately she's my biggest artistic idol and inspiration. still, nailing her style is impossible>

Cow's art isn't perfect, but I still consider her to be of the best manga artists either for making such simple drawings beautiful.

I'm having such an hard time figuring out who the mangaka is... a cow? It really doesn't ring a bell to me... xD I don't know who the heck says that her drawings suck, they might not be perfect but they are more than able to tell a story that many perfect drawings can't.
That shoujo drawing reminds me of something... is it sailor moon? I really don't know xD

I have a couple of friends who hated her drawing style, but I couldn't care less, because despite its imperfections, it was still pretty amazing.

I don't know what that shoujo pic may look like, I was just drawing without thinking XDDD

alot older? hmmm maybe you're right. oh hell, I haven't drawn realistic portrait in years^^; will have to practice^^;

I for one is still happy shoujo isn't your thing. Not because it's badly done here, but because a shoujo Maes would be scary XD (And I agree with Gakushi, there's Sailor Moon vibes there ^^)

And I realised after a while that realistic Maes looks a little like a young Bill Gates to me... ^^;

I tried to imitate your style but it's difficult and I do realize that it looks nothing like it should>< but it is true that you are my inspiration^^ like, for instance, this weekend I downloaded Disney's Tarzan, and now I owe the DVD for it because the movie is just amazing. just please, don't think I'm a creepy stalker, I wanted to watch it for some time, you just reminded me about it
