Big Bang post 1

for this year's fmabigbang challenge, I had an honor of working with mfelizandy and fractured_chaos and their story "Arcanum Parterfamilias". it's an epic tale taking place quite a few years after manga's ending, has some elements originating from first anime, therefore it should be treated more like an AU, than actual following of any series. it mostly takes place in a certain forgotten city and deals with past that was long forgotten. canon characters appear, as well as lots of lovely and amazing OCs. the story is still in progress (20 chapters!) and that's why, I'll be posting illustrations when certain chapters are posted (yes, I did more than one drawing this year as well...). please read this amazing tale!

The senior yevarshedaht swept into motion, their sticks blurring and sashes flying as they leapt and thrust, swept and spun. The boys on the walls cheered and gasped as Makhu escaped a broken jaw with a back handspring that rotated in midair and brought him back to his feet with his stick moving to catch Mishyael under one arm and flip him forward. Mishyael gave to the pressure, rolled over his shoulder, then stayed crouched close to the stone floor of the courtyard and twisted Makhu’s feet out from under him. Abrahn watched with a calm, weighing gaze as the two men wrestled.

motion and action scenes are not my forte. but I have to learn ad do those sometime, right?^^; watch me fail for the time being





concept sketches I did before getting to work on final illustrations. I had to get a hang of the characters first, try putting authors' words into my lines. it was a great fun and pleasure, and I hope I did justice to all of them. I added names next to all drawings, because most of those characters will appear later in the story, but I want you to be able to see how I imagined them. also, please note that I rarely draw animals so...^^;


this final sketch is a little surprise for my authors, because there are some characters and some scenes that deserve being drawn but didn't make it yet to polished illustrations^^; so yes, I did draw Asher for the very first time without your supervision and he may look off, but please forgive me^^; and is it wrong that I'm starting to ship him with Naomi? I dunno, twins seem to agree with me^^; Ed and Al are from... a certain scene I can't help but laugh at^^; Marissa and Theo are being cute just because

OMG! I totally LOL'd out loud at Makhu and the puppy! You gave him such a wonderful "Don't f*ck with me" face! Now my roomies are convinced I'm insane (Dunno why it took so long for them to figure that out). And I absolutely adore Asher! Beautiful job.

And I don't know where you get the idea that you can't do action well. All of the action shots look amazing to me!

wow these are all so nice. I love your sketches, they're so expressive <3 and OMG your full colourpiece is gorgeous!! Its so bright, has so much colour and subtle details. It's different from how I normally see you do your clours, much more of an animation palate. Your backgrounds are always so nice and detailed T.T the detials with the hair braids/weave is so nicely done, i love what you did with it and they red beads at the ends. The motion scene is great and the motion blur in the arm makes it better. Love love love <3

Gha! These are beautiful. I'm pleased to see the Scarred man from Ishbal has taken a name again. Now I'll have to load that story onto my kindle (along with several others) to see how that came about. I love his long hair. Ed and Al are lovely. Love Ed's wedding ring detail. ^_^ I'll have to read to learn what this scene is about. And here I was trying to limit my big bang reading hahah... Now you just sold me on another to read.

I LOVE your FMA art (from what I've seen on DA), and this is no exception. I've always enjoyed your character expressions, the designs, the style, EVERYTHING! Loving the action going on in the first picture, and of course the Elric kids are adorable. Definitely going to take a peek at this story!

Ale ten Makhu wygląda zajebiście (w ogóle tyle zajebistych postaci na tych szkicach)! XD a z tym pieskiem to miszcz xD zaś kolorowy art to wręcz ocieka zajebistością, dobry efekt z tą poruszającą się ręką, i w ogóle świetny cell-shading, nie mówiąc już o postaciach i tle. XD

If this is your idea of failing, you need to practice failure some more, you don't seem to have the hang of it yet. I'm sitting here grinning and restraining the urge to bounce around squealing. Asher! And Marissa! I'm going to melt into a happy puddle!

I love how you drew the Elrics "all grown up". Ed did finally make up for lost growth! He's still a trouble magnet, though. His kids are so cute, and Marissa is darling in her little-girl dress with the ruffles around her waist and her cute little sandals! Her brother's expression is just priceless.

The juxtaposition of Makhu's ferocious expression with his puppy's "Come play with me!" smile is hysterical. No matter how Makhu tries, he's just not going to look bad@$$ with a happy little puppy spoiling the effect. HEEE!!

Now for Naomi and Asher--EEEEEEEEE!!! I think I said it once before, but it bears repeating--you've drawn Naomi as recognizably her in-between age, and I haven't seen that too often. Now you've done the same thing with Asher. He's clearly not a child, and just as clearly not an adult yet either. I love how you've dressed him, with his shirt wrapped loosely (I love how you draw the drape and swing of fabric, too, there's a sense of its weight as well as freedom of motion) and the tail of his belt off to his side. His hair is perfect, the little braid makes me grin every time I look at it! His expression really catches his personality well.

OK, yeah, I have a soft spot for Asher. No, you're not wrong to 'ship him with Naomi. Just don't tell them about it yet, they're still tiptoeing around the idea!

Naomi's freckles are perfect.

This art is great. I especially love everyone's expressions and the detail in the clothing. It reminds me of Arakawa's artbook. The character design style is different, but she used to draw action sketches like these. I really like them.
